Loughborough University to open London Olympic Park campus

Loughborough University plans to move some of its teaching to the site of the London 2012 Olympics.

The university, which has a strong reputation for sports teaching, said it would create an £8m campus for postgraduates in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The facility will open in 2015 in what was formerly the press and broadcast centre.

It will be part of the iCITY enterprise complex for the digital and creative industries.

Prof Robert Allison, the university's vice chancellor, said: "We're proud of what we do here in the East Midlands. We do it at the very highest quality.

"It's about bringing that opportunity to a world city and reach students that find it difficult to study here in the East Midlands."
