Anti-bullying idea in Leicestershire rollout

A "restorative approach" to reduce bullying is to be introduced in schools across Leicestershire after a "successful and positive" pilot.

Student volunteers help bring the perpetrator and victim together to discuss what happened and resolve the dispute.

The idea was trialled at Charnwood College in Loughborough and at Babington College in Leicester.

Mark Sutton, principal at Charnwood College, said he has seen a 75% drop in exclusions, a reduction in conflicts between students and improved attendance.

A website has been set up with information, external to help other schools to use the same method.
