Concerns over plans for Walton on the Wolds solar farms
Residents in a Leicestershire village have called for proposed solar farms in the area to be sighted elsewhere.
A public consultation on solar farms, in Walton on the Wolds, has begun and plans have gone on display in the village.
Resident Janet McMillan said valuable land for food production would be lost if the plans are approved.
The developer said the site would remain in agricultural use as the panels would still allow animals to graze.
The UK's largest solar farm was built on an airfield in nearby Wymeswold last year.
Solar companies are eager to secure new locations to generate renewable energy from sunlight before government subsidies become more limited from next April.
