The zoo where chimps 'learn to be chimps'

Twycross Zoo was famously home to the chimps who starred in the PG Tips adverts.

Attitudes to animal welfare have changed radically over the years, and the zoo's chimpanzees now have very different lives.

Recently, staff have been working with scientists from the University of Birmingham on software which compares the behaviour of their chimps with those in the wild.

It helps inform the zoo about how best to adapt their environment in order to encourage the animals to behave as naturally as possible.
