African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust campaigner honoured

One of the founders of a charity set up to find bone marrow donors for black people has become an OBE in the New Year Honours.

Orin Lewis created the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust with his partner Beverley De-Gale, after her son Daniel developed leukaemia and struggled to find anyone who could help with a transplant.

Daniel died at the age of 21 in 2008.

Mr Lewis, who is based in Croydon, south London, has been explaining how he felt when he learned of the honour, and the impact his partner and stepson have had on his life.
