Plan to cut 520 jobs and close 12 London fire stations

London's Fire Brigade is facing the deepest cuts with plans to reduce the number of firefighters by 520, close 12 stations and cut 18 fire engines.

Fire Commissioner Ron Dobson insists the move will not affect response times.

But Paul Embery, the leader of London Fire Brigades Union has warned that lives will be put at risk.

Fire Authority members, Labour's Navin Shah and Lib Dem's Stephen Knight said they will oppose the plans.
