Metropolitan Police faces more questions over rapes

The Metropolitan Police has faced further questioning over past failures to properly investigate rape in one of London's boroughs.

It is the latest in a series of criticisms of the force around integrity and professionalism.

At a meeting with the London Assembly, Deputy Commissioner Craig Mackey revealed there were currently about 300 officers being investigated for potential misconduct.

Jenny Jones, London Assembly member for the Green Party asked if the force was institutionally sexist while Jane Wilson from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations said the impact of inquires into officers' conduct was eroding public trust.
