Olympic housing boom affects school places

The Olympic housing boom has been blamed for some families in east London missing out on school places near where they live.

Joaquin Rios said he moved with his three children opposite a school to cut down on the time it took them to get there. But because of primary school shortages near the Olympic Park, children living there have been offered places in his nearest school - and the knock-on effect has meant his children have to go to a school further away.

Parent Keeley McSweeney also talks about the impact this has had on the schooling of her children while Tower Hamlets Labour councillor Joshua Peck says the council failed to respond to the need for schools.

Tower Hamlets says it is building more schools.
