London Fire Authority rejects cuts plans

Plans to close ten fire stations and axe 552 firefighter posts in London have been rejected again by the fire authority.

The cuts are aimed at saving nearly £29m over the next two years.

The decision on whether to go ahead with the proposals now rests with the mayor, Boris Johnson.

Paul Embry, regional secretary of the Fire Brigades' Union, says the plans could cost lives.
