Charities urge PM for Olympic lottery cash refund

Charities have urged the prime minister to return almost half a billion pounds of lottery funding that was taken from them to help pay for the Olympics.

The money is due to be refunded eventually, through sales of property on the Olympic site, but campaigners fear it may never materialise, as many buildings are now being leased rather than sold.

Debra Allcock Tyler, from Directory of Social Change, said it was not OK for charities to wait 20 or even 30 years for money to be given back which they should have access to right now.
