Hire bike crash victim: 'Cycling in London not safe'

A model who was seriously injured when using a London hire bike says cycling in the centre of the capital is not safe.

Dag was on his way to a casting when he was in collision with a lorry in Gray's Inn Road, leaving him with hip, pelvis, collar bone and rib injuries.

Jean Dollimore of Camden Cyclists has said roads need "completely re-engineering".

But Andrew Gilligan, the mayor's cycling commissioner, said: "We're spending a billion pounds to meet the public's clamour for safer cycling.

"We have a huge number of projects on the go."

Tom Edwards reports.
