Spending 24 hours in Croydon's 'high-risk' A&E unit

BBC Inside Out has spent a day in Croydon University Hospital's "high-risk" A&E unit ahead of a visit by the government's new chief inspector of hospitals.

On Wednesday Professor Sir Mike Richards will be visiting the department, which has been classified as "high risk" by the Care Quality Commission.

BBC London's Inside Out team spent 24 hours in the hospital's accident and emergency department to look at the pressures faced by staff.

They spoke to junior doctor Max Kenet, accident and emergency consultant Dr Shub Banerjee, Professor Sir Mike Richards, chief inspector of hospitals, and John Goulston, the hospital's chief executive.

Inside Out is broadcast on Monday, 16 September at 19:30 BST on BBC One and for seven days thereafter nationwide on the iPlayer.
