Firefighters carry out tower block fire exercise in London

London firefighters have taken part in a large-scale training exercise aimed at improving how the emergency services deal with tower block fires.

Some of the procedures being tested were brought in following the deaths of six people, including three children, in a fire in Lakanal House in Southwark in 2009.

BBC London's Kurt Barling spoke with David McClory, civil protection manager at Barking and Dagenham Council, and London Fire Brigade's Deputy Assistant Commissioner Richard Mills.
