Fears over gold thefts during Diwali

There could be a sharp rise in the number of Asian Londoners being targeted by gangs of thieves this week for their gold.

The five day festival of light, Diwali, begins on Thursday when high value jewellery is often worn during the celebrations.

Sharad Pattni, a jeweller in Forest Gate, said he was always vigilant, and that one of his customers was attacked in their home for their gold.
