St Mary's Hospital in Paddington targets gang victims

A major trauma unit in west London is trying to reduce the number of young people being admitted with gang related injuries, by using youth workers in its wards.

St Mary's Hospital in Paddington says it is treating children as young as 11 years old for injuries including shootings and stabbings and it wants to ensure the victims do not then turn to a life of gangs and crime.

BBC London reporter Jean Mackenzie spoke to youth worker Aman Singh Jaswal, Dr Asif Rahman, who is an A&E Consultant at St Mary's Hospital, and John Poyton, chief executive of Redthread youth charity.
