Couple launch challenge against ban on heterosexual civil partnerships

A couple from west London has begun a legal challenge against a ban on members of the opposite sex entering into civil partnerships.

Rebecca Steinfeld, 33, and Charles Keidan, 38, from Notting Hill, reject the idea of marriage, saying they see themselves as equal partners.

But they want the legal rights that a formal union would give them.

Their challenge coincides with a private members' bill sponsored by the Conservative MP for Worthing East and Shoreham, Tim Loughton, which seeks to remove the words "same sex" from the Civil Partnerships Act.

BBC London's Jean Mackenzie talks to the couple and the MP.
