Staff fear as Tube worker assaults increase by 44%

Tube workers are facing increasing abuse from angry passengers according to new figures which show the number of assaults on staff has gone up by 44% in the last five years.

London Underground said the reporting of abuse has increased and the figures reflect more verbal abuse than physical.

But unions said many staff feel at "constant risk of attack".
