Chelsea Pensioner shares VJ Day memories

Chelsea Pensioner Peter Matthews has spoken to BBC London about what he saw at the end of World War Two in Burma.

Mr Matthews, 90, now lives in the Royal Hospital Chelsea. He will attend an event in London on Saturday to mark the 70th anniversary of VJ Day, when Japan surrendered to Allied Forces.

Mr Matthews recalled meeting freed prisoners of war in Burma, saying: "They looked as bad as if they'd been in Belsen."

He spoke to BBC London reporter Sarah Harris.
