Notting Hill Carnival faces funding shortfall

Ever since 1966, the Notting Hill Carnival has taken place on the Sunday and Monday of the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The Afro-Caribbean street festival is the largest in Europe and the colourful parades and flamboyant dancers attract about a million spectators.

But the carnival has always relied largely on volunteers and unless more funding is found, supporters say it will be impossible to maintain in its current form.

BBC London reporter Valley Fontaine, who was born on the carnival route, talks to local people about whether they would be prepared to help pay for Carnival.
