Junior doctors say stress and anxiety impacting work and patients

A growing number of junior doctors are seeking help for depression, stress and anxiety, a BBC investigation has found.

A Freedom of Information request to hospital trusts in London showed the number of days lost due to mental health issues has jumped by 159% since 2011, to almost 3,200.

The Practitioner Health Programme which supports and counsels doctors, says the majority of its patients are now under 35.

Inside Out London spoke to several junior doctors, who said staffing shortages and intense workloads had impacted on their physical and mental well-being.
