London mayor appalled at 'unceasing misery' for rail passengers

Sadiq Khan has called for the Southern Railway franchise to be taken from Govia Thameslink and handed to Transport for London (TfL).

The London mayor said he was appalled at the 'unceasing misery' inflicted on passengers of Southern rail services.

It comes after months of delays, cancellations and overcrowding.

The rail operator, Govia Thameslink Railway, claims a reduced timetable will help improve reliability.
