Buckingham Palace: Five facts about the royal gardens

Visitors to Buckingham Palace will be allowed to wander around its gardens unguided for the first time this summer.

Despite being in the middle of central London, the estate is home to 1,000 trees, a home to a diverse range of wildlife, rare native plants as well as the national collection of mulberries, which the palace uses to make gin.

From the rose beds to the most prominent tree on the estate, Ms Midgley-Adam has come up with five facts you may not have known about the historic grounds.
