Why are there sheep on Hampstead Heath?

Sheep were a common sight on Hampstead Heath in the 1940s and 1950s, but they moved out as London became the metropolis it is now.

They are back, grazing on a section of parkland, in a trial scheme to see if they can improve biodiversity.
