Norwich Cathedral peregrine chicks taken into 'protective custody'
Two peregrine falcon chicks nesting on a cathedral spire have been taken into "protective custody" after attacks by a hostile adult female bird.
The Hawk and Owl Trust said it had decided to intervene to remove them from the nest on Norwich Cathedral.
Two chicks died in the attacks on the nest last week. The two other chicks will now be reared by the trust before being released to the wild.
Nigel Middleton, of the trust, said it would not normally intervene but described the events as "exceptional".
