Sheringham Scira Viking Festival

A seaside town has been "invaded" by Vikings on a mission to send their victorious leader flaming into Valhalla from a 16ft (4.9m) wooden longship pyre.

Thousands watched the torch-bearing grand finale of a week-long festival in the north Norfolk town of Sheringham.

The event, developed from an idea by local artist Colin Seal, is run by the town’s carnival committee and volunteers.
