Northamptonshire children's care branded 'inadequate'

The care of children by Northamptonshire County Council has been branded "inadequate" by the education watchdog.

Ofsted said the authority had failed in all categories following an inspection in July, stating there were "key shortfalls" within children's health, education, employment and training.

It follows a damning report in March, stating abused children were also not being properly protected by the council.

The authority said it was already in the process of making improvements.
