Northamptonshire Police aims to treble specials force
Northamptonshire wants to treble the number of special constables by the end of the year as the police force faces £20m cuts in the next four years.
If the recruiting campaign is successful, there will be 900 specials, making it the biggest Special Constabulary per head of population anywhere in the country.
The force says trebling the number of special constables is not the solution, but admits budget cuts have played a part.
