Nottinghamshire hit squads tackle illegal fly-tipping
Councils in Nottinghamshire say illegal fly-tipping is costing them thousands of pounds every year.
A clean-up hit squad in Newark and Sherwood said it spent 50% of its time clearing items that had been dumped illegally.
Caroline McKenzie from Gedling Borough Council said fly-tipping was "devastating" for the environment and had cost the authority £56,000 last year.
Officials have urged people to help them find the culprits and made a plea for tougher legislation.
