Missed GP appointments in Nottingham 'cost £5.5m in staffing'

Missed appointments at GP surgeries and hospital outpatient clinics in Nottingham cost about £5.5m in staffing every year, according to the NHS.

A survey carried out by 18 practices over a month showed that one in 100 appointments were being missed at one surgery, while one in five patients were not showing up at another.

Nottingham NHS Clinical Commissioning Group says it is now launching a campaign to raise awareness of the cost of missing appointments.
