Nottingham Old Market Square hydrant makes 50ft 'geyser'

A fire hydrant showered shoppers with water when it burst, creating a 50ft (15m) "geyser" in a city centre.

It ruptured in Nottingham's Old Market Square, spraying a jet more than twice the height of a double-decker bus into the air.

The water also fell on buses and trams but did not affect services on Monday.

It was later repaired.
