Abundance Oxford collects surplus fruit for charity
A new community group is collecting surplus fruit from Oxfordshire gardens and giving it to charity.
Abundance Oxford, headed by Dot Tiwari, has about 20 volunteers who collect the unused fruit after work and at weekends.
Some of the fruit is offered to the tree owners, some is left for wildlife and the rest is taken by bicycle to various charities, including The Porch Steppin' Stone Project in Oxford.
Rachael Parfitt, from the project which supports homeless people, said donated apples would be used in the café, and to make chutney and jams as part of the charity's "Porch Pickles" scheme.
