Shakespeare's 'Oxford hotel room' opens to public

A guesthouse where William Shakespeare is rumoured to have stayed in Oxford is to be opened to the public.

The "painted room" is a preserved 16th century "Elizabethan treasure" hidden above shops in Cornmarket Street in the centre of the city.

Debbie Dance, from the Oxford Preservation Trust, said the playwright would have stayed there during trips between London and Stratford.

The doors open on 22 April.
