Georgia Williams murder: Father 'torn apart' by killing

The father of murdered teenager Georgia Williams has spoken of being "torn apart" by his daughter's death, which he said could have been prevented.

Georgia, 17, was hanged by Jamie Reynolds at his home in Wellington, Shropshire, in May 2013.

Georgia's parents Steve and Lynnette said they cried when they read the findings of a serious case review into her death.

Mr Williams, a serving officer with West Mercia Police, said he visited his daughter's room every night "to talk to Georgia" and asked her to "let me know she's safe".

Meanwhile, Mrs Williams attacked those who missed signs that Reynolds was a threat.

She said: "It wasn't just the police, all of the other agencies involved, none of them did their job properly.

"They killed Georgia, they really did."
