Castle House where Bloody Assizes Judge Jeffreys stayed undergoes £1m restoration

Royalty came face-to-face with its treacherous ancestry when the Duke of Gloucester officially opened a restored medieval building in Taunton.

The Duke took the opportunity to call into the Somerset museum's Monmouth Rebellion room, devoted to an attempt to overthrow the Monarchy 300 years ago.

While there, he spoke of his family's links to the infamous Duke of Monmouth.

Clinton Rogers reports.
