Staffordshire school to store books on narrowboat

Pupils at a Staffordshire school will soon be browsing for books in a library with a difference, a converted narrowboat.

Chancel Primary School in Rugeley took delivery of the 40ft (12m) long vessel on Wednesday.

Books were previously stored in corridors outside classrooms.

Teacher Sarah Mollitt said the school aimed to get children "excited about coming onto the boat, picking up a book and reading.

Boatbuilder Nick Thorpe said the project had been a first for him but he was "very pleased" with the results.
