Former soldier from Staffordshire takes first steps on new legs
A former soldier from Staffordshire, who lost both his legs in Afghanistan, has taken his first steps on his new artificial legs.
Clive Smith, 30, travelled from his home in Cannock to Australia for the pioneering surgery which sees metal rods inserted into the bone.
It's a procedure not available in the UK and he's had to remortgage his home to pay for it.
He hopes he can now put the wheelchair away for good and get engaged to his girlfriend.
"To pop the question, I've got to be down on one knee. I didn't want to do it in a wheelchair," he said.
