Campaign for St Edmund to be England's patron saint

A campaign has begun for St Edmund to be reinstated as England's patron saint.

BBC Radio Suffolk is backing the campaign for the comeback of Edmund who held the title for almost 500 years, only to be ousted by St George.

Supporters are hoping that 100,000 people will sign a petition which would force parliament to debate whether it should reinstate St Edmund, who was King of East Anglia between AD 855 and 869.
