East Kent flooding affected by disused mines
The Environment Agency is pumping water downstream, as mining has caused subsidence in East Kent.
The Nailbourne and River Stour have raised levels after recent rain, and the ground over which they flow has sunk because of old coal mines in the area.
A pumping station is needed to get the water downstream and into the Great Stour which flows over higher ground.
With more heavy rain forecast across Kent overnight, East Kent is also gearing up for strong winds and high tides over the weekend.
Ian Norton from the Environment Agency explained to Yvette Austin some of the measures that have been put in place to protect homes.
