Balcombe protesters complain of police 'snatch squads'

During a day in which three people were arrested at the demonstrations against oil drilling in Balcombe, protesters have complained of police "snatch squads".

One protester said his girlfriend had been taken by police from their tent.

Ch Insp Paul Betts from Sussex Police said she had been arrested in that way as police had been unable to detain her on Monday.

Green MP Caroline Lucas was released on bail after being arrested on Monday.

She denied her involvement in the protests was a publicity stunt.
