Birling Gap cliff edge sightseers 'in danger'

Sightseers who go too close to the crumbling cliff edge at Birling Gap in East Sussex are putting their lives at risk, the RNLI has warned.

Wet weather over the winter has left the chalk unstable. The cliffs saw seven years' worth of erosion in the first two months of the year.

Coxwain Mark Swain told BBC reporter Ian Palmer there was "a real risk of fatalities".

Adrian Harrison, from the National Trust, said signs and tape had been put up in places where cracks had formed. He warned people to stay away from the edge.
