David Dimbleby becomes Eastbourne Towner Gallery chairman

Broadcaster David Dimbleby is to become the chairman of a gallery in Eastbourne when it becomes an independent charitable trust.

The Question Time chairman - who lives in nearby Polegate - has been a keen supporter of the Towner Gallery since it opened five years ago.

The gallery had been run by the local council but as a trust will have a greater range of fundraising opportunities.
