Sussex patients offered new treatment for aortic aneurysm

Patients in Sussex with the potentially life-threatening condition of an aortic aneurysm are being offered pioneering new surgery.

Doctors believe they can reduce the time patients need to recover from the operation and reduce the potential for complications after surgery.

The East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is the only trust in the south-east of England to offer the new technique.

BBC South East Today's Health Correspondent Mark Norman watched an operation at The Conquest Hospital, in St Leonards-on-Sea, and spoke to patient Josephine Pearce, and consultant radiologist Dr Mohamad Faris.
