Viral Sats test letter 'about positivity'

A letter sent to pupils by several schools ahead of upcoming Sats tests, which has gone viral, is about "positivity", a head teacher has said.

Variations of the letter, sent by numerous schools in England, said the tests do not assess what makes pupils "special and unique".

Principal of Silverdale primary school in St Leonards, East Sussex, Liz Miles, said the school's ethos was about positivity and she wanted to support the children.

The idea is believed to have originated in the USA.
