Darlington man's 63-mile canoe challenge for Parkinson's

A Darlington man with Parkinson's disease is canoeing 100km (63 miles) through the Scottish Highlands to raise awareness of the condition.

Simon Laverick, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's two years ago, says he wants to "prove a point" to himself that he can do it and the illness will not "restrict him" from doing what he wants.

The 44-year-old will paddle coast to coast through Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal in five days.
