Shildon project to build first steam engine in 150 years

A steam locomotive is being built from scratch in County Durham for the first time in more than 150 years.

The G5 engine will be the first to be designed, built and operated at the site in Shildon since the 1860s.

Arnie Longstaff, who is working on the locomotive, says it will be nice to show his grandchildren what he helped build.

It is hoped the engine will be up and running on heritage lines in two years.
