Hartlepool apprenticeship project a 'big success'
An apprenticeship project launched 12 months ago to help the unemployed in Hartlepool is proving a "big success", the council has said.
The Hartlepool Youth Investment Project (HYIP) was set up by Hartlepool Borough Council to help improve prospects for young people and get them into work.
Since its launch, 21 apprentices have been employed, the council added.
Council leader Christopher Akers-Belcher said it was important to invest in young people because they are the "greatest resource" for the future.
