Newcastle Science Central to create up to 2,000 jobs

The regeneration of the former Scottish and Newcastle Brewery is under way, marking the start of a development which could create up to 2,000 jobs, it is claimed.

The 24-acre site, which been vacant for eight years, will be the new home of Science Central - a scheme creating a new business and residential quarter in the city centre.

The development is a partnership between Newcastle City Council and Newcastle University, who say it could create 2,000 jobs by 2020.

Construction is expected to be completed by autumn 2014.
