Metro passengers intervene as woman suffers racial abuse

A Muslim woman has thanked passengers who came to her defence when a stranger on the Tyne and Wear Metro launched a verbal attack on her and her sister.

Ruhi Rahmani said they were subjected to threatening and racist comments while travelling between Newcastle and Whitley Bay on Saturday afternoon.

However, fellow passengers intervened and ordered the man off the train.
