Durham Light Infantry Museum supporters protest over closure plan

About 100 people took part in a protest in Durham against the planned closure of the Durham Light Infantry (DLI) Museum.

Durham County Council is planning to move the museum's exhibits to Spennymoor because it says it is too expensive to run and that would save it £221,000 a year.

Campaigner Peter O'Hanlon said he wants the museum to stay open and for those who served in the DLI to be honoured.

Other protesters are worried the DLI's history will be "hidden away and forgotten about".
