Australian politician apologises to gay widower

The premier of South Australia state has apologised to a gay British widower after state authorities refused to recognise his marriage.

David Bulmer-Rizzi, 32, who lived in Sunderland, died after falling down stairs while on honeymoon in Adelaide.

His husband Marco Bulmer-Rizzi, 38, was not recongised by the state as his husband's next-of-kin and was unable to plan a funeral.
